This month I focused a lot on the Dela Riva guard (DLR) specifically the Berimbolo sweep and concept and the X guard. With more and more people preferring to stand and pass (which is much safer than passing from your knees), guards like DLR and x guard have become standard. In addition to the Berimbolo I also cover drills that will improve your movement from the DLR guard.
I also go over X guard and one legged X in three very detailed lesson plans. The first lesson plan is part of our fundamental curriculum. How to sweep your opponent in x guard using a technical stand up. The second lesson plan covers taking the back with a variation if they counter. The last lesson plan covers one legged X made popular by Marcelo Garcia.
